The Irish Grain and Feed Association represents the compound feed manufacturers in Ireland. Collectively they produce approximately 4.3 millon tonnes of animal feed. Raison d'être: Produce safe & nutritious feed, stimulating animal health & welfare, contributing to the nutritional value in food, sustainability circular economy, responsible sourcing. All medicated feed licensed members of the IGFA are requested to implement a recognised quality management scheme which has a specific requirement for medicated feed e.g. UFAS, GMP+, QS etc.
The industry is serviced by importer members and ancillary members (additive and premix manufacturers). All sectors are represented on the Feed Committee who convene quarterly. This is the decision making body. The members come from both independent and cooperative businesses. IGFA is a member of The European Feed Manufacturers' Federation (FEFAC). FEFAC membership today consists of national associations from EU Member States as full members and of an increasing number of observer members from non-EU countries. FEFAC is the only independent spokesman of the European Compound Feed Industry at the level of the European Institutions. FEFAC holds observer status in CODEX Alimentarius.
Igfa supports its members through the following mediums: Monthly Feed Issues, RASFF updates, GMP+ EWS updates, Risk assessment & other guidance documents, Training, Facilitation of communication with DAFM and other bodies, European Premix, Animal Nutrition, Feed Safety, Brexit committees and ITC benchmarking.
